So... it's been a long lime since I last updated this page. A lot has happened including starting my final semester at school (ahhhhhh!).

This last Christmas we all got new beanies and Rianne and I got a little crazy after all the presents were opened. Julisa took a few photos with us, but I think we ended up scaring her with all the crazy poses.
So my roommates and a couple other friends went bowling last weekend. The first place we went was way too crowded so we had to wait for a lane to open. While we waited a few of us started playing a few rounds of competitive air hockey. I won my first game and lost the second.

My ward had another incredible opening social. We went up to the mountains and played in the snow all day. A group of us started to make an igloo out of giant snow balls, but we never finished the roof.

Ashley participated in Nashville Nights and she and her partner made it to the best of show at the end of the semester! She was amazing! To see her sing go to the link to her blog on the right side of the page.It has been snowing nonstop here for the past two days. It's that light powdery stuff and it's covering a lot of ice. So now walking and driving are becoming treacherous.

Summer Make-Up

O.K.
So I know that I haven't updated my blog since forever, but I have a good reason for ignoring my updating opportunities. For one thing nothing exciting has happened over the summer for me to report on. Now I'm trying to make up for my lack of communication.

Yesturday, not even a week into the start of a new semester of school, I attended a ward activity. We went on a three mile hike up a mountain neighboring the Tetons. Our purpose? To reach a place called Wind Cave. Starting at 9:00am we headed off. The Bishopric had the idea of splitting us into groups comprised of people we had never met. it was wonderful getting to know so many people in the ward this early in the semester. About a mile into the hike individual groups could no longer be distinguishable as most of the ward had collided and mixed together once again. I found myself at the very front of the pack during the last part of the treck. (Really, I was only second including our trail guide in the long line of sweating individuals) I promise I wasn't speed walking! I was actually taking my time and enjoying the scenery when I found myself in the front. By 1:30pm we reached the cave where this picture was taken of Danielle, Sylvia, and myself. It's from a phone since we all forgot our cameras. But we wanted proof that we had made it all the way so we found a phone (which had reception the entire hike except inside the cave).

Lets just say everyone at church today was super sore and still tired from hours of strenuous climbing. We're compiling a disk of everyones pictures from the hike. So the moment I get more pictures I post them.

On Friday my roomates and decided to take some roommate pictures around our house. These are the ones I have right now. We have more, but They're on Ashley's camera.

So... I entered the jean quilt I made earlier this summer into the Grant County Fair. And guess what? I won Best of Section!
They mispelled my name. Apparently they thought my name was Carnbrie. Mom saw that, found the nearest pen, and fixed the problem. Later that day there was a new sign posted near the quilt display telling people to not touch the quilts or the tags on them.

O.k. so I was able to pull off the unthinkable. The quilt was finished at 2 am on the Friday of the lip-sync concert (the deadline goal of this entire project). There were a few snags that threw us for a loop trying to complete it on time.
First... the sewing machine kept throwing fits until we learned that we had to take the entire machine apart and put it back together before each new line of sewing... the material for the back had to be bought between the Moses Lake and Ephrata walmarts (a town twenty minuets away) in three different pannels... then there was the task of getting the pattern of those pannels lined up exactly when they were sewn together...
we did an alternating pattern when tying and came to find out that if we off-set four ties in the middle it would appear as if we tied in a circular design...
That's all that I can think of at the moment.
One cool thing is that the boarder around the center design perfectly edges a queen size bed. That was not planned but it looks wonderful.
At the concert we were able to fit five adults with lots of room to spare!!!

What Free Time?

For the past two weeks I've been working on a new project in my spare time. Ha! That's a laugh. What spare time? O.k., so I've been working on it from 8 - 2 at night. Mom stayed up with me yesterday until 2:15 AM helping me sew the last few pieces together.

This quilt started out as a simple jean design, but as you can see it turned out to be a little more complicated. Oh well, the top design is finally done. I still have to tie and finish the quilt, but I can soon move on to my next project.... just as soon as I can figure out what crazy thing I want to do next.

Mom's convinced that I should enter it into the fair.

Midnight and Insane

Over Easter weekend I found myself doing a trial drive run down to Utah to spend the holiday with Karen's family. When I talk about trial runs I'm referring to the fact that I haven't driven over and hour straight since coming to school and in two weeks time I'm suppose to make the 12 hour run from Utah to Moses Lake in one go. I am proud to say that I succeeded on this leg of the trip. I even found out that I like driving really late at night when there aren't many people on the road. Plus, it's fun when your playing leap frog with another car all the way down the freeway;) This picture was taken in Utah at a restaurant called Buco - Da- Bepo's. It's a real italian restaurant. I've never eaten so much cheese in my life! Lets just say that we were playing plenty of music later that same night.

Sooooo... Last night was the 5K Midnight run here on campus. The course included running around the track three times then running around the perimeter of campus from the stadium, the kirkum, around the girls dorms, turning at the temple and comming back to the stadium by way of South 1st street (the street I live on). It was extremely cold with the high chance of snow.

So Danielle and I didn't run. But we went for moral support and to try our hand at cheer leading. Don't worry, we went five layers and ten pounds heavier to the even to escape the cold. Apparently gray isn't the best color to hide the fact you are four inches wider than you were ten minutes ago.

To get into the right spirit we designed these shirts using nothing but iron on printer paper and our insane imaginations.

Do to a upside down reversal, we did not become uno and dos, but uno and sod. All over our backs are our apartments favorite quotes from Hoop and Yoyo.

After the run, we ate pizza and talked the night away. No one went to bed until 4 or 5 this morning. (sarcasm heavy in following sentence) Thank goodness its a Saturday and all my teachers decided that my finals are next week and my five projects I'm working on are due on monday! Baah!

Thank goodness this next week is going to be my stressful one. It just means that I have practically nothing to due except pack and clean during finals week.

Freezing Again

So we were really excited that most of the snow had melted, the highways were clear, and the temperatures had actually reached into the 30's/

So... what are we doing about the snow? Absolutely nothing. We went right back to bed

I watched Melinda and Katrina's kids last Saturday while Katrina went to a wedding and Melinda was in Utah. My roommates loved having so many young kids running around. (No, I was not being sarcastic.)

The chaos of another semester

Once again I lucked out. I have wonderful roommates who keep me young and on my toes.

We aren't making a star with our fingers, it's really just a bunch of victory signs that got way too close to each other.

Yes, we were freezing.

Surprising enough, even with over twelve years of schooling each, our sink still seems to have the ability to accumulate dirty dishes. The sign is new and as you can tell the sink ignores it quite well.

Earlier this semester I had to go camping in -44 degree weather for two days as a class requirement. Who ever heard of camping being a requirement for a computer program development class? I was worried when my teacher sent out an email informing us that we were camping in the snow the third week of January. There was no mention of tents or food arrangements so I prepared for the worst. Luckily, we slept in itty-bitty cabins that each had a space heater.

The CIT guys (that's me) were split up among a bunch of business groups that had the challenge of creating a business on campus and selling their products to the students. This camp out was mainly for team strengthening.

The snow was incredibly deep and we found that while we waited for our next activity to begin it was actually warm if we laid down in the snow. Too bad we didn't find out until later that the snow drifts were near impossible to get our of on our own.

My CIT group was to make a web page for these guys, a sort of advertisement for their business. Too bad the server we were to post them on is having problems. Now, just a month from the end of the semester we no longer are doing web pages. (Dang, I just got our done when this announcement came.)
Here is the bottom graphic for the site. As you can see, the team was selling hotdogs. I designed and drew most of this.

I inherited Natalie and Casey's left over goldfish two weeks ago when they left for Arizona. Funny thing is that my roommate and I have conditioned them that when we unplug the bubbler it means food is coming. Their typical reaction... spasm out until food starts hitting the surface.
Here's a video of them doing it a little. Usually they react ten times more spastic. And people say goldfish only have an eight second memory.

I finally found a new pair of Sunday shoes! After many years of searching my quest for brown shoes has been fulfilled! Now I officially have two pairs of dressy footwear.

Our home teachers took us to breakfast. Lets just say we had way more fun than we expected on an early Saturday morning...
